V. Gilbert Beers has been writing and developing Bible reference materials for more than fifty years. Gil began his publishing career as editorial director at David C. Cook Publishing Company in the early 1960s, developing its total Sunday school curriculum. Later, Gil became a full-time author, writing more than 150 books, with total sales of more than thirteen million copies. From 1982 to 1985, Gil also served as the Editor of Christianity Today magazine, and from 1990 to 1996 was President of Scripture Press/Victor Books. Among his many projects, Gil developed the 23-volume Book of Life, and the 8-volume Family Bible Library, Bible study and devotional programs for families; the Victor Handbook of Bible Knowledge; The Toddlers Bible; and, with his son Ron, the TouchPoint Bible and TouchPoint books. His latest book is What Every Child Should Know about the Bible (Tyndale, August 2009).
